Jairus Byrd's Potential
Posted on January 31, 2010 at 04:41 PM.
OK, so as everyone knows, the Buffalo Bills did not have a good season at all. The offense was pitiful, and showed it was capable of barely scoring 14 points a game. The only good things that came out of the 2009 season, was the Bills' running game, some special teams, and the pass defense. With 28 or so interceptions, they came in 2nd place for that dept. But one guy that stands out from the rest is Rookie Safety Jairus Byrd #31. he has shown great awareness and agility, being able to snatch tipped balls, and steal them out of Wide Receivers' hands. The amazing thing is that Byrd had a total of 9 interceptions in the 2009 season, only playing in about 11 games.

(He has also been elected to the AFC Pro-Bowl list, but cannot play due to an injury)

That is incredible, think about it: A rookie, playing in only 11 games, getting 9 interceptions, tied for first with the notables such as Darren Sharper. But those people with 9 on the list played in more than 11 games. So I could only think of how many more he could have had playing the full 16. A man who's in the right place at the right time, Jairus Byrd. (btw, the Bills better sign him, in this process to rebuild the team. He's a pro-bowler safety, and it'd be a shame to lose him.

not sure whether those interceptions were all skill and that leads me to thikn he'll be an average safety. not elite
